Darrell’s Background 

Darrell has been in the image making profession for 44 years first as a professional photographer concentrating on portraits. He became one of America’s leading photographers, earned a Masters of Photography that went along perfectly with his MBA, Masters in Business Administration. He was selected twice as the top portrait photographer in Louisiana. Still not content, he learned the fundamentals of traditional painting not with a traditional brush but with a digital brush using Corel Painter and the computer. He developed a market to sell his art the public. A leading National trade publication featured his story in an article describing him as the New/Old Master because of his ability to transpose a photographic image into a painting with much of the same look as one would find in a painting by Rembrandt or Sargent. Next, he began incorporating his digital paintings with traditional canvas, oils and brushes that provided the hand-textured surface you would find in any oil painting. Today Darrell works mostly with traditional oils, pastel and occasionally with cold wax using brushes and palette knife. He still relies on Corel Painter to work out his compositions before ever one mark on the canvas. Darrell states: “I can see Da Vinci or Turner using the latest technology available to them with the objective to create incredible art, which is the most important objective an artist can and should have.”

Darrell’s business background has allowed him to discover and conquer unexplored frontiers in art and to enjoy significant financial success at the same time. His ability to attract clients willing to pay handsomely for his art has brought in millions in those 44 years. With two Masters degrees and years of professional experience he also dedicated 15 years as a college professor teaching photography, graphic design and art who his students who today are duplicating his life experience. And now he enjoys living on a beautiful dream home located in North Louisiana with his “Cajun Shack” in his back yard where he still is busy creating new concepts and styles and teaches other professional photographers, experienced digital and traditional artist as well as those with zero experience. His objective is to show others that they can find their unique voice as an artist and still earn a handsome income at the same time.

With all of this said, what makes Darrell so unique is his passion to excel. He lives by two mottos: “Never Give Up” and then “Look at what everyone else is doing and then DON’T DO THAT”! Perhaps you can add a third…”Never stop learning and developing your skills.” When you stop growing, that’s when you start to die.
